Few items are so elusive as the perfect summer sandal. For those days when a Birkenstock or leather slide just won’t cut it—maybe you have a fancy lunch meeting, or you just want to look a little more polished—you need a summery shoe that’s chic, practical, and will go with everything in your closet. Seems like a tall order, right? Now that low-heeled pumps and blocky mules are back on trend, finding the ideal mix of comfort and style has actually never been easier. We asked Vogue.com editors to share which shoes they’re relying on all season long, from tropical high-tops to striped babouches to hand-painted sandals. Bet you can’t pick just one favorite.

When it comes to office-appropriate summer shoes, I tend to gravitate toward a sensible heel. (At 5-foot-3, I always seem to be surrounded by 6-foot-tall models at work.) They also have to be insanely comfortable, as I walk everywhere and it takes 10 minutes just to walk from the subway to the office in the morning. So the Carmelinas platforms are perfect; the ankle strap and platform make them easy to walk in for hours at a time. I recently brought a pair to L.A. and was thrilled to find that it was officially sandal season upon my return to New York.
